JL Hanalei Sup spo-defaultOur best board for both surf and flat water. Generally wave shapes dont track (paddle straight) well because theyre designed to turn, but the Hanalei with its parallel rail outline and classic rocker creates the ultimate crossover board. Flat bottom to V starting in front of the fin area flowing out the tail makes this board paddle quickly and smoothly and surfs the same way. 2+1 Fin box set up. 100 7 JL swept fin and 4 side bites All other sizes 8 JL

So I did a little research and shaped him a board with a similar bottom shape as a seaplane and that did the trick for him

Not only do these boards re-direct the rider back up onto the foil with little or no drag when they touch down but they take off much easier and faster too

Catches waves like a longboard but performs like a shortboard
