Valley Cushion Japanese GardensFound by Dr. Ticknor of the Oregon State Research Center, and introduced by Mitsch Nursery of Aurora Oregon in 1982, this mugo pine will grow into a very tight mound that stays dark green all year. Wonderful for rock gardens.

This variety

Found in the wild by Eugene Smidt in 1926

It will grow prostrate

in mid summer

grow in a half-barrel and move it into a greenhouse for the winter

It was discovered and introduced about 1970 by Layne Ziegenfuss and Greg Williams

Can grow in full sun or partial shade

People walk right by the little Pimoko in it's pot but they all stop and stare at our large specimen in the garden

It is a very striking landscape plant and is most useful as a plant that will draw the eye with its strong presence

there are attractive strawberry-like fruits that attract birds to your garden

It has nice dark green foliage

One of the finest foliage plants of all rhododendrons
